About Mathew

I’m passionate about the transport industry, business growth, high standards and making a positive difference across South Wales. As Training Manager at TC Wales and Director of TJC Lifting Gear, I’ve built my career through hands-on experience in driving, planning, transport management and vocational training. With over 10 years in the industry, I bring a practical, 360-degree understanding of transport, safety and compliance, always looking for ways to improve standards and help businesses move forward. Outside of work, I’m a volunteer crew member with RNLI Burry Port Lifeboat Station, giving my time to help protect lives at sea. Volunteering has given me another opportunity to take responsibility, work as part of a team and contribute to something bigger than myself. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, the opportunities I’ve taken and the challenges I’ve faced along the way. I’m always looking to push forward, take on new challenges and make a lasting impact both in business and in the wider community.

About TC Wales

TC Wales and TJC Lifting Gear work together to provide businesses across South Wales and beyond with practical training, lifting equipment services and compliance support. TC Wales delivers a wide range of accredited and industry-specific training, including Driver CPC, forklift truck operations, lorry loader, first aid and workplace safety courses. We work with individuals, small businesses and large organisations to improve skills, maintain standards and meet their legal and operational requirements. TJC Lifting Gear specialises in LOLER inspections, lifting equipment supply, racking inspections and lifting solutions, helping businesses ensure their equipment is safe, compliant and fit for purpose. What makes us different is our practical, hands-on approach and our understanding of the industries we serve. By combining training expertise with lifting equipment knowledge, we offer businesses a more joined-up service, built around real-world experience, reliability and strong customer relationships. Both businesses are focused on delivering quality, building long-term partnerships and helping customers operate safely, efficiently and confidently. We’re proud to be growing our businesses in Wales while continuing to support the industries and communities around us.

About Mathew's team

Behind TC Wales and TJC Lifting Gear is a dedicated team with a wealth of practical industry experience, technical knowledge and a genuine commitment to doing things right. Our team brings together experienced trainers, transport professionals and lifting equipment specialists, each playing an important role in delivering quality services to our customers. From providing industry-recognised training to carrying out lifting equipment inspections and supplying the right equipment for the job, we take pride in our work and the standards we maintain. What makes our team special is the combination of hands-on experience, a straightforward approach and a willingness to go the extra mile for our customers. We understand the challenges businesses face because we have experience on the ground, not just in the classroom. Working together across both businesses, we share a common goal: to provide a reliable, professional service that customers can trust. As we continue to grow, it’s our people, their expertise and their commitment that will remain at the heart of everything we do.

The journey

My journey in the transport industry started behind the wheel, and over the past 10 years, I’ve worked across driving, planning, transport management and training. Each step has given me a different perspective on the industry and shaped the way I approach business today. Moving into training and management allowed me to build on that hands-on experience, taking on new responsibilities and challenges along the way. Becoming Training Manager at TC Wales was a major milestone, giving me the opportunity to help grow the business and expand the services we offer. Taking on a Director role at TJC Lifting Gear was another significant step, bringing new challenges and opportunities to build a business alongside my work at TC Wales. Running and growing businesses takes commitment, resilience and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, but it’s something I thrive on. Away from business, joining the volunteer crew at RNLI Burry Port Lifeboat Station has become an important part of my journey. Giving up my own time to help protect lives at sea has reinforced the importance of teamwork, responsibility and serving the community. Looking back, my journey hasn’t followed a straight path, but every experience has helped me get to where I am today. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far, but I see it as the beginning of the next chapter rather than the finished article.

Why your vote matters

A vote for me would mean a great deal, not just personally, but to everyone involved in TC Wales and TJC Lifting Gear. Both businesses have grown through hard work, commitment and a genuine passion for the industries we serve, and I’m proud to be part of that journey. Over the past 10 years, I’ve worked hard to build my experience, take on new challenges and make the most of every opportunity that comes my way. I believe success is about more than job titles or business growth; it’s about the contribution you make along the way. Your vote would be recognition for the people and teams who make these businesses what they are. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, excited about what lies ahead, and grateful for anyone who believes in what we’re building.
