Nicola Simmons

Repair Care International specialises in sustainable timber repair, helping people extend the life of existing windows, doors and other timber features. We work with contractors, architects, surveyors and property owners, providing specialist repair products, practical training and technical support. Our approach helps customers retain sound timber, reduce unnecessary replacement and protect the character of buildings, from everyday homes to historic properties. What makes Repair Care special to me is the support behind the products. We help people develop the skills and confidence to carry out lasting repairs, building relationships that continue long after a training day or first project.

I’m proud to work alongside a team who bring different skills and experience to a shared goal: helping people carry out lasting timber repairs. Our account managers, technical specialists, trainers and office colleagues each play a part. Together, we help customers identify the right approach, develop practical skills and access support throughout their projects. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is supporting colleagues, sharing what we’ve learned and seeing people grow in confidence. The relationships we build and the results we achieve depend on everyone’s contribution, and this nomination is an opportunity to recognise the people behind that work.

I joined Repair Care International in 2019, and my journey since then has been about building relationships, developing my knowledge and taking on new responsibilities. In 2025, I progressed to Senior Specification Account Manager, combining responsibility for my own region with supporting colleagues in theirs. Along the way, I achieved a Distinction in my Consultative Sales Diploma and returned to education to study Business and Management at the University of South Wales. Completing my second year with a Distinction while working full-time is something I’m particularly proud of. It has taken commitment, plenty of evenings studying and a willingness to keep challenging myself. Some of the most meaningful moments have come from seeing where our work can make a difference—from supporting timber preservation with the National Trust to introducing learners in open prisons and colleges to Repair Care and helping them progress through our full Level 1 training. Those experiences have strengthened my belief in the value of sharing knowledge and giving people opportunities to develop. I’m still learning too, and I want to keep growing while helping the people around me do the same.
