About Charlotte

Having joined the world of ICT at 18 years old, my original role was one of admin. I had minimal knowledge of the industry and had no intention of moving into a technical role at all. Shortly after joining the small team at ExtraScope, it became clear that a majority of women who called seeking IT support were much more comfortable speaking to a female technician. This was extremely rare at the time so my role quickly mutated into one of 1st and 2nd line support and I grew and developed as I went, often learning with the clients! I moved into a management role in 2011, taking over as managing director in 2020 with a fantastic team alongside me. I now provide consultation services for multiple sectors as well as technical support and everything else the role of MD brings from HR, payroll through to buying birthday cakes for the team. I'm best known for having an out of office reply but replying anyway! Being a woman in the IT industry has always come with its challenges but I am proud and honoured to be surrounded by the best team who have continued to push the business forward as well as developing me into the type of managing director I want to be.

Proudest achievements

  • Being part of a business that has stood the test of time, continued to grow steadily and develop its practices and procedures keeping not only customers at the heart of decisions, but the team too has been a huge achievement for me. Knowing that our business is not built on one person, but on the entire team is of key importance to me.
  • Working across sectors including education, I get to be a part of projects that will go on to benefit hundreds if not thousands of students where the smallest detail matters. Knowing that we have been an active part of bringing technology up to a standard that meets the challenge of an evolving environment is something I am extremely proud of.
  • Obtaining both Cyber Essentials Plus and SSAIB accreditations year after year are a true reflection on the quality and hard work of our team.

About EXTRASCOPE LIMITED

ExtraScope is more than just IT Services. We are built and fuelled on helping our clients in all things IT, even to its furthest extreme. Every phone call brings a quick catchup on life whilst we use our second screen to research the issue the client is having, being branded IT wizards in the process. No request is too much trouble, not every request is within our scope but we do the leg work needed to get the client to the right people if its not us. We work along side other 3rd party companies to ensure our clients are never left in the middle. We strive to improve constantly, working closely with our clients to fill any gaps that are identified, often diversifying our offerings to accommodate, obtaining accreditations and recognition because when we go the extra mile, we do it with best practices and quality at the heart of it. We also have a keen interest in the charity sector, sponsoring a number of charities and providing services along side. We are always happy to give back what we can and support those who support our communities.

About Charlotte's team

Where to start. ExtraScope is the team and the team are ExtraScope. We often refer to ourselves as a dysfunctional family because we are not the traditional ICT team. We socialise, we banter, we have dress up in onesies and have pizza afternoons but when it comes to getting the job done, the team always pull together and support each other in whatever way is needed. Each member brings something unique to the team and its having such a diverse and well rounded team that has driven ExtraScope to the position its in today.
